This 10,000’ mountain has numerous stopping locations for pictures and many hiking trails. On all private tours, you will see rare plants and travel to the summit area.
Watching the rising sun on the top of Haleakalā is a bucket list for many visitors to Hawai'i. This experience, combined with stargazing at the summit area of the national park, is something you will remember forever. You will be treated to a spectacular show and a full tour down the mountain during daylight hours.
Visiting Haleakalā during the day, combined with visiting 'Iao Valley (which we highly recommend) or other upcountry areas, makes for an awesome day of sightseeing. Check out various sites within Haleakalā National Park and then tour around central Maui, including upcountry Maui’s paniolo (cowboy) town of Makawao and the historic beach town of Pā'ia.
Start your tour later in the day to enjoy the evening and sunset on the mountain. We will start later in the day and explore some of the major sites within the park before hanging out in the summit area to enjoy the show. Your guide will provide a narrated tour up and down the mountain with pickup at your accommodations or pier.
Our special small group tours allow us to go onto the trails and explore more of Haleakalā’s National Park trails in-depth. You don’t need to be a hiker to enjoy this option. These tours allow for a daytime or sunset tour option where you can take multiple small hikes with a guide.

Your tour begins with pickup at your accommodation at various times, depending on the tour option you choose. Sunrise tours start with pickup around 3-4 AM while sunset tours start around noon. You will have 7-8 hours to explore the volcanoes on Maui with a local expert guide.
Depending on your route, you will be able to experience slightly different sites on the mountain.
Private Sunrise Tour
Available in our 11 or 24-passenger vehicle options only, a sunrise tour starts with a pre-dawn pickup and brings you all the way to the top of the mountain while it’s still dark. From there we will enjoy some stargazing as the light of the sunrise begins to creep over the clouds. Legends of Maui will come to life as the sun makes it appearance and a chant welcomes its arrival. The tour then continues down the mountain through historic areas and quaint towns. You can choose to add a breakfast stop to your tour.
Private Sightseeing Tour
This day tour allows you the most time to see all the volcano sites on the island. Venture up into Haleakalā Park during the day and get a narrated tour up and down the mountain. Spend more time at the sites you want to see, and go to the TOP! A sightseeing tour in our SUV allows guests more flexibility to walk on the hiking trails. Groups taking the larger vehicles will not be permitted to hike; those guests will be offered a chance to visit 'Iao Valley State Park.
Private Sunset Tour
Many guests do not like to get up so early for the sunrise and would prefer to enjoy the sunset tours. Enjoy the colors of the sky as the sunset and see the first stars peak out. The tour includes visits to other parts of the National Park and upcountry Maui before stopping at the summit area. You can combine this option with a meal afterward if you would like.
Private Hiking Tours
Our small group private tour of 7 guests and under allows the most flexibility when visiting the park. These tours start after sunrise and allow guests to hike on any of the trails in the park. Your guide will have a couple of must-do walks and sites to check out. You don’t need to be a hiker to enjoy this tour. These are easy walking/strolling options for all ages. Choose to start your tour later to combine it with a sunset view from above the clouds.
