Greet the most beautiful sunrise on earth in Haleakalā National Park, where you will learn about the animals, plants, and rocks of the summit area and how how they all developed a special meaning and purpose to the people of the islands. The majesty of nature and the wonder of history will captivate you on this 8 hour excursion over beautiful lands.

Start things off with a hotel/condo pickup, because the last thing you want to worry about on an island vacation is the transportation. Begin a 30-mile journey up the mountain, taking in stunning views of the island as you climb. We will arrive in the park before sunrise, where your guide will provide you with historical information about the volcano, teaching about Hawaiian culture and tips for staying safe and warm. After sunrise, we’ll journey down the volcano to an Island-style hot buffet breakfast. There will be brief stops along the way to enjoy the stunning bi-coastal morning views.

We reach the summit before sunrise to give you time to enjoy the stars. The summit of Haleakalā is one of the most amazing star-gazing spots in the world and is already home to many of the world's most accurate telescopes. The high elevation and lack of light pollution work together to provide some of the most incredible and uninterrupted sky views. Just before dawn, the vivid colors of the morning start to appear throughout the sky and in the valley, 1800ʻ below you. Behold as brilliant gold casts the dark of night away and vibrant oranges and reds spread out over the uninterrupted sky! Be sure to have your cameras ready. There is no other view like this on Earth, and you don't want to miss it.

Sunrise at the Summit & Park Tour

Starting your day at the top of a mountain, with the first rays of sun hitting you, is one of the most memorable experiences you will have on your Maui vacation. Wrapped in a warm hooded blanket, (provided by your guide,) you stand atop of an 1800ʻ cliff, above a valley filled with volcanic craters and flows that is simply magic.

Afterward, your tour guide makes a number of stops going down the mountain at Kalahaku overlook, Park Headquarters, and in Upcountry Maui. This will let you really see and experience everything this beautiful location has to offer.

Hot Breakfast After Sunrise

This tour takes you to a wonderful breakfast at either the Kula Lodge or the Maui Tropical Plantation. Recharge yourself on delicious food and the ever-wonderful gift of coffee. We continue the tour after breakfast as we return to your hotel or condo.

The best way to see Haleakalā is in the early morning, when the first rays of the sun's light begin to shine across the unique rock formations and cast the already colorful crater in an even more wonderful pallet of colors. The tour begins with a hotel/condo pick-up between 2:00 AM - 3:00 AM. You will travel in our comfortable 24 passenger Custom Cruiser with huge viewing windows, elevated extra-padded high-backed seats and a professionally trained, knowledgeable, safe and fun driver/guide. This is a great opportunity to see all the sights of Maui that this road provides, so be sure to bring a camera!

The climb up the mountain is a 30-minute journey that allows for plenty of chances to take in the greenery and to keep an eye open for the many endemic species of animal that might appear in the early hours. Arriving in the park before sunrise, your guide will greet you and provide you with historical information about the volcano, and teach you about Hawaiian culture and tips for staying safe and warm. You will learn how Haleakalā’s animals, plants, and rocks developed a special meaning and purpose.

After sunrise, we’ll journey down the volcano to a hot, Island-style breakfast. Eat some refreshing pineapple, recharge, or feast on some savory bacon. We have tons of options, so be sure to fill up. The tour runs year-round, with pick-up times beginning at 2:10 am in the spring and summer months and beginning at 2:40 am in the autumn and winter. Visitors are reminded to dress in warm layers, as the trip to the summit of Mt. Haleakalā can be quite chilly, averaging about 20 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
