Hilo Volcano Adventure Tour Features
An Active Volcano!
We travel to Volcano National Park and an overlook of the active Kīlauea Volcano. Witness the primal process of creation and destruction in this ancient and powerful place. Feel the heat of steam vents rising from cracks in the earth and take a short hike through the Thurston Lava Tube. The Visitor Center has videos and pictures of this awesome force of nature in action. You will learn the story of the most recent events that fascinated the country when the lava overtook large swaths of land in 2018.
Incredible Parks
See the beauty of Queen Lili'uokalani Gardens, the largest Japanese-style gardens outside of Tokyo. The elegant bridges and gentle landscaping are designed to create a feeling of peace. We will drive along Banyan Drive—with its magnificent trees—to Richardson Beach Park, where you can dip your toes in the water at this unique black sand beach. Sometimes, you will see turtles swimming in the water!
We will also visit the original King Kamehameha Statue so you can take a photo of your group with Kamehameha the Great!
Rainbow Falls
We will travel to Wailuku River State Park, which is just a short drive from downtown Hilo. Here, you’ll discover an easily accessible 80-foot waterfall. Known as Waiānuenue or “rainbow water,” Rainbow Falls was so named because, on sunny mornings around 10 am, rainbows can be seen in the mist thrown up by the waterfall. The Rainbow Falls cascade 80 ft over a lava cave that, according to legends, is home to the ancient Hawaiian goddess Hina, the goddess of the moon. This is truly a natural wonder and should not be missed on a trip to Hawai'i!

In the 1900s, Japanese immigrants moved to Hawai'i to work in the sugar plantations. Soon, they began farming and selling taro and its leaves.
