SUNRISE ON A VOLCANO & BIKE RIDE TOUR
- Haiku, Maui, Hawaii
- Haiku, Maui, Hawaii
- Maui, Hawaii
Combine two of the most popular activities on Maui into one tour, watch sunrise on Haleakalā and then bike down the volcano, all the way to the ocean. This is an amazing way to spend a morning doing some very unique activities that you can only do here on Maui.
Visit Haleakalā National Park with a certified interpretive guide who will show you the unique features of the area and teach you about the plants and animals that are endemic to the volcano. Your guide will bring you to the best spot to view the sunrise and it's amazing pre-dawn colors.
After sunrise, we begin a bike ride, just outside the park, that takes you all the way down the volcano, passing through Maui's beautiful countryside and small towns.
Haleakalā Sunrise Bike Tour Features
Haleakalā National Park
Take in the views at this scenic national park known as the “House of the Sun.” Haleakalā Crater is a natural erosional valley with cliffs over 1800ʻ deep and filled with unique plants and animals. The unique coloration and landscape makes it one of the most beautifully surreal locations in the world. While there, explore the Summit Visitor Center and Park Headquarters as well to get more context on this famed location.
Summit Area at Sunrise
Upon arrival at the summit, you will be escorted by your guides to the edge of the crater where you will view the majestic sunrise. Watch the sky dramatically change colors as you view the majestic sunrise on the top of the mauna (mountain) that makes up Haleakalā National Park. We arrive early enough for a little bit of stargazing - made special at this altitude because the sky is incredibly clear and there are no city lights to interfere.
Bike Down A Volcano
After a beautiful sunrise and tour through the park, you will stop at 6500' to get on a guided bike tour back down the mountain. Enjoy the morning wind blowing through your hair as you twist and turn on a comfortable bike through Maui's upcountry area. This is a great way to see the area while enjoying the beautiful outdoors.
Makawao Town
Makawao Town is considered a Paniolo Town (Hawaiian Cowboy,) and has a fittingly rustic and charming atmosphere. It is also a great place for boutique shopping or exploring art galleries in upcountry Maui. Your guides will give you time to enjoy a breakfast or snack at the historic bakery or a unique cafe.
